This question was attempted by many candidates In part (a) (i) and (ii) many candidates

correctly named agents used for crowd control during sporting activities in schools in (ii) many candidates also gave reasons why crowds should be controlled during sports competition.

In part (b) candidates correctly stated ways of controlling crowds in sports.

However, the expected answers are as follows:

9.(a)(i) AGENTS OF CROWD CONTROL DURING SPORTING  

  ACTIVITIES IN SCHOOL

•       Scouts/Boys/Girls brigade/WAI brigade/ Sheriff guard
•       Prefects/captains
•       Teachers/staff

-           Police

           -           Man-o-war

           -           Civil Defence (NSCDC)

   (ii)   REASONS FOR CROWD CONTROL

•       - to keep peace among the two groups/teams
•       - for orderliness
•       - to prevent destruction to life and property
•       - for fair judgement in officiating
•       - to prevent riot, violence and disturbances
•       - to avoid disruption of competition                 
•       - for security of athletes officials and fans

(b)        WAYS OF CONTROLLING CROWD IN SPORTS

•            - limits the population of spectators to the capacity of the arena/stadium/adequate sitting position
•           - use public address system/adequate information flow
•           - use of law enforcement agents/adequate security
•           - keep supporters clubs apart 
•      - alcohol/hard drugs should not be sold in the area
•      - provision of spectator barrier
•      - good officiating/fair judgement of fouls and infringement
