Using appropriate techniques at the run-up, take off, flight and landing phases, execute the long jump such that a distance is jumped. [25 marks]
Observation
This question was attempted by majority of the candidates and their performance was good. They did well in it.
However, the expected answers are as follows:
Activity 1: Execute the long jump
Procedure: Candidate performs three long jump trials. Use the scale of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 to rate the candidate performance on run-up, take-off, flight, and landing.

All performance will be judged according to the following rubrics:
Run – up
(I) start to run from the check mark/other spot on the runway
(II) powerful arm drive
(III) high knee raise
(IV) consistent stride
(V) run at full speed
Take – off
(I) foot must strike the take-off board/ground
(II) take off on single foot
(III) knee is slightly bent
(IV) take-off on the ball of the foot
(V) the take off leg fully extended at take off
Flight
(I) the jumper is in the air
(II) arms are swung/explained
(III) legs are swung/explained
(IV) knees are bent/hung
(V) eyes, chin and chest must point forward
Landing
(I) legs extend fully forward
(II) body bends/pushes over the extended leg
(III) heels strike the pitch
(IV) legs bend at the knee
(V) arms circle forward, upward and downward
