Observation

This question was popular among the candidates and they answered the question correctly. Majority of the candidates did answer correctly the problems associated with irrigation in West Africa.
However, candidates shied away from question (2)(c) because of the calculation. It appeared most candidates developed cold feet on sighting the question and some who attempted lost mark by writing wrong unit. In answering question (2)(d), it was obvious that candidates did not know the difference between primary and secondary tillage implements by the way the answers were mixed up.

The expected answers include:

2(c)

2(d) Primary and secondary tillage implements

Primary tillage implement
Plough/mouldboard plough/disc plough/chisel plough

Secondary tillage implements

• Harrow/Disc harrow

• Ridger

• Cultivator

• Rotavator
