Candidate's Weakness

        The candidates were unable to:

• - outline the procedure for carrying an experiment illustrated by a diagram;
• - state the precautions to be taken when carrying out an experiment illustrated by a diagram;
• - state the ways in which specimen H (Bean beetle) is economically important;
• - state the effects of specimen P (Roundworm) on the host.

Based on the observed weaknesses, the Chief Examiners recommended as follow:

• (i) Aspects of the syllabus that are related to experiments which are used to analyze soil properties should be emphasized by teachers;
• (ii) Only graduates of Agricultural Science/Agriculture should be allowed to teach the subject in Senior Secondary Schools in West Africa.
