Observation

This question was fairly attempted by the candidates. Though candidates could identify and state the use of the implement, they could neither state correctly the function of each of the labelled parts nor mention ways of maintaining the implement.

The expected answers include:

1. (c)  Functions of the parts labelled I, II, III, IV and V.

I – Furrow wheel: It gives support at the back and maintains a balance/guides the direction of the plough

II – Beam/frame: It provides attachment for the disc standard, it bears additional weight for greater depth.

III – Disc standard: It provides attachment for the concave disc.

IV– Disc scraper: It removes soil particles.

V – Disc: It cuts large soil boulder/it rotates and makes vertical and horizontal curve as tractor moves forward.

(e)  Ways of maintaining the implement

- Tighten loose bolts and nuts.

- Grease all metal and movable parts.

- Replace broken and worn-out parts.

- Remove soil particles on metal blades to avoid rusting.

- keep the implement in a cool dry place/place under cover when not in use.
