The purpose of applying electrical energy to a fuel guage is to vary the electrical energy through a potentiometer or a variable resistor by the action of a float to indicate the reading of fuel level in the tank to the dash board.
Many candidates did not attempt the question on wiper mechanism and few that did sketch it as the visible wiper on the windscreen of vehicle.
