  • (a) State the function of the following auxiliary systems in a motor vehicle:
  •    (i) door switch;
  •    (ii) oil pressure gauge;
  •    (iii) cigar lighter socket;
  •    (iv) horn;
  •    (v) fuel-reserve switch.
  • (b)State the difference in operations between a circuit breaker and a fuse.
  • (c)State two functions of a headlamp.

  • (a) Function of auxiliary system in a motor vehicle
  •    (i)Door switch: act as a switch for inner light                                    
  •    (ii)Oil pressure gauge: indicates the pressure/level of oil in the engine
  •    (iii)Cigar lighter socket:
    •          serves as a heating socket
    •          recharging of cell phone battery
    •          drives FM modulator
    •          serves as a source for 12 volts.                       
  •    (iv)Horn: produces sound vibration to warn of road users of oncoming vehicle.  
  •    (v)Fuel-reserve switch: used on some vehicles to give a reserve supply of a few litres of fuel.
