Most candidates were able to:

-    List three materials used for pavement construction.


However, some of the candidates were not able to:


- state two reasons for the construction of kerbs on access roads.
- state two reasons for using a metal fencewall gate instead of a wooden gate.

- Planting of trees, shrubs, flowers and grasses.
- Construction of drainage channels
- Construction of pavement, side walks, drive-way and parking space.


(b)  Materials for pavement construction

-   grass                                                                                       


c)   Reasons for the construction of kerbs on access road.

- To define pedestrian walkway;
- To prevent erosion on the sides of the road;
- To define the width of the vehicular road;
- To direct surface water into the road drain.


(d)   Reasons for using a metal fencewall gate instead of wooden gate
-   It is durable and strong
-   It is free from insects attack
-   It is free from dimensional instability
-   It is free from decay
