SECTION B: THEMES FROM THE GOSPELS AND THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES

Question 5: Matt 9: 1-8, Mk 2:1-12, Lk 5: 17-26

(a) Narrate the story of the healing of the paralytic.

(b) In what three ways is faith relevant to the Christian?

OBSERVATIONS

This was a popular question in this section. However instead of narrating the story of the paralytic who was lowered by his friends through the roof, most of them mistook it for the story of the paralytic by the pool of Bethsaida.

They failed to mention that Jesus asked the Pharisees and Scribes why they think evil in their hearts. They also forgot to state that when the crowd saw the paralytic man healed, they glorified God. They were not able to state the relevance of faith as required in the (b) part of the story among which is:- (i) Faith in Christ assures Christians of salvation; (ii) with faith healing is possible; (iii) faith compels people to Christ etc.
