Observation

Candidates' response was fairly okay. The candidates were expected to list four hand tools used in the construction of a dining chair. The solution is shown below:

(a) any type of percussion and impelling tools (hammer, mallet, screw drivers);

(b) any type of chisel (firmer chisel, mortise chisel, pairing chisel);

(c) any type of saw (tenon saw, rip saw, dovetail saw and cross cut saw);

(d) plane;

(e) spokeshave;

(f) marking out tool (try square, marking gauge, slide bevel);

(g) assembling tools ( F clamp, G clamp, Sash clamp).
