Observation

This was a very unpopular question with the candidates and those who attempted it performed poorly, particularly in the (a) part on pattern of trade between Nigeria and Great Britain, and between Nigeria and Ghana.  On the pattern between Nigeria and Great Britain, many candidates left out correct answers like:

- mainly agric products from Nigeria to Britain e.g. cocoa, coffee, groundnut, cassava, etc.
- minerals from Nigeria to Britain e.g. Petroleum, tin, columbite, gold, etc.
- mainly manufactured goods from Great Britain to Nigeria e.g. automobile, pharmaceuticals, farm machinery, electronics, textiles, shoes, etc.
- volume of trade in favour of Britain
- unfavourable balance of payments for Nigeria.

On pattern of trade between Nigeria and Ghana, the expected answers included:

- mineral products from Nigeria to Ghana e.g. crude oil and natural gas.
- Manufactured goods from Nigeria to Ghana e.g. toiletries, detergents, plastics, electronics, etc.
- Manufactured goods from Ghana to Nigeria e.g. textiles, jewelries, etc.
volume of trade in favour of Nigeria
- Unfavourable balance of payment for Ghana.
