Observation

This was an unpopular question among the candidates.  Poor map and insertion of features were noted on the candidates’ scripts.

In part (b) many candidates failed because they could not give correct answers such as:

- favourable sites for settlement;
- good for agriculture;
- livestock farming;
- sources of minerals;
- source of water for domestic and industrial uses.

In part (c) on problems of highlands, the expected answers include:

- barriers to land transport
- poor soils
- unfavourable settlement sites
- soil erosion on steep slopes
- cause less rainfall on leeward side
- occupy space that would have otherwise been used for agriculture or settlement.
