(a) Draw an outline map of Nigeria.
On the map, show and name:
- the railway line from Lagos to Kaura Namoda;
- one major town along the railway line shown in 5(a)(i) above;
- two river ports.
(b) Highlight any four problems affecting railway transport in Nigeria.
- Outline three ways by which railway transport could be improved in Nigeria.

This was not a popular question among the candidates as they avoided drawing of maps. Some of the candidates who answered the question were able to highlight problems affecting railway transport in Nigeria but a good number of them were not able to outline ways by which railway transport could be improved in Nigeria. The ways of improving railway transport in Nigeria include:
- construction of more railway lines;
- provision of capital for the railway transport industry;
- proper maintenance of trains;
- improved management practices;
- purchases of new trains;
- construction of multiple rail track system;
- modernization of railway train & coaches;
- local production of spare parts. |
