The question was very popular among the candidates.  Candidates highlighted the main functions of the Executive in a modern state and they were handsomely rewarded.

However, there were some weak candidates who lost substantial marks because they misfired and wrote on the features of presidential system of government.  On the whole, candidates’ overall performance in the question was well above average.

The very good candidates did not forget to state some of the following functions of the Executive:

-           policy formulation;
-           implements the laws made in the state;
-           appointment and removal of top officials of the state;
-           declaration of war;
-           conducts foreign policy of the state;
-           exercises the prerogative of mercy, etc.
