This question like question number 1 was also avoided by many candidates.  Not that the question was out of syllabus but both teachers and students concentrate on texts of selected ahādith,  at  the expense of notable men of  Hadith like at-Tirmidhi.  For the few candidates who opted for the question, they wrote more of his biography than his contribution to the science of Hadith.  His work on Hadith (Jāmic)) and the comprehensiveness of the work which rates him as one of the six authentic collectors of Hadith are some of the points expected of the candidates.  By and large, candidates’ performance was fair.
