Question 1

To what extent can Mr.Okadu be considered as narrow minded?

OBSERVATION

The few candidates that attempted the question merely pointed out Mr. Okadu’s character. They failed to point out Mr. Okadu’s attitude towards issues he knows little about and portrays him as a narrow-minded character as shown in the following actions of his:

  • Mr. Okadu’s handling of his sack by Chutney, his former employer,
  • His entry into lawyer Onyimdze’s service for no pay, only to be taught the English way of wooing Miss Tsiba;
  • His flouting of Onyimdze’s instructions in his relationship with Miss Tsiba and his eventual involvement in English wedding with Miss Tsiba neglecting the traditional wedding.
  • Mr. Okadu’s membership of the Cosmopolitan Club is as a result of his narrow mindedness i.e. his wish to belong to the elite group.

Few candidates attempted the question and their performance was good.
