Comment on the contribution of Jack Worthing’s deception to the development of the plot.



Candidates were expected to identify Jack’s acts of deception and their relevance to the development of the plot.

Jack invents the fictitious name Ernest while hiding his identity from others including his closest friend Algernon.  Jack lies to Mrs. Bracknell about his property and inheritance and also capitalizing on Gwendolen passion for someone of the name Ernest.

Candidates’ performance was poor.
