Question 2

Comment on the role of Mr. Okadu in the play

The following points are relevant:

  • The playwright’s use of Okadu to satirize Africans who copy western beliefs and practices sheepishly.
  • Mr. Okadu as a destabilizing force in the Tsiba household.
  • Okadu’s attempt to defend the European beliefs and values he has adopted when they are challenged.
  • The effect of Lawyer Onyinmdze’s victory in court on Mr. Okadu and traditional values.

The question was well attempted by most of the candidates and the performance was good.
