(a) Define any three of the following terms in colour theory:
- monochrome;
- colour intensity;
- juxtaposition;
- neutral colours;
- split complementary.
(b)        Draw  any three of the following colour mixing tools:
      (i)         palette knife;
      (ii)        agitator;
      (iii)       strainer;
      (iv)       paint  kettle.
    
Observation
This question was very clear and precise in defining terms in colour theory and drawing tools used in mixing colour. Though, some candidates answered the question correctly, while others described instead of definition. The candidates’ performance was average. They were expected to provide the following answers to the question:
(a)        (i)         Monochrome   
    -           It is a colour scheme of various shades and tints of a  single colour.
    -           A painting in tints and shades of one colour only.
    (ii)        Colour intensity
    -           It  is the purity/strength/degree of lightness and darkness of a colour.
    -           The  brightness of a colour.
    (iii)       Juxtaposition
    -           The effect one colour has on another  when viewed side by side. 
    (iv)       Neutral colours
    -           These are used to tint and shade other colours.
    -           These are added to another colour to increase or decrease  the intensity.
    -           They are not found on the colour wheel.
    -           These are white and black.
    (v)        Split complementary
    -           It  is a colour scheme that involves the use of one base colour and two 
    secondary  colours.
    -           A variation method of using two  contrasting colours to form a colour scheme both left and right of the hue  directly opposite to it on the colour wheel.
