From a marked line, dribble the hockey ball around placed obstacles in a figure 8 fashion for 30 seconds.

Observation

 

 

This question was attempted by few candidates and their performance was poor. Candidates could not skillfully dribble the hockey ball around placed obstacles in a figure 8 fashion for 30 seconds. They were not familiar with the game.
However, the expected answers are as follows:

Activity 4:       Dribbling the hockey ball

Procedure:      The candidate dribbles the hockey ball around obstacles placed at intervals in a “figure 8” fashion for 30 seconds. Use the scale of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 to rate the candidate’s performance on grip, body   position, foot work and execution

All performance will be judged according to the following rubrics:

Grip
(I)        hold at the handle
(II)       one hand at the top
(III)      the second at the shaft
(IV)     firmly held by the hand at the top
(V)      loosely held at the shaft.        

Body position and footwork
(I)        face direction of the dribble
(II)       assume ready position
(III)      starts while in an astride position
(IV)     feet are placed alternately in leading position
(V)      body lean forward.

Execution
(I)        eyes on the ball
(II)       ball is played with the face of the stick
(III)      left hand twist the stick
(IV)     right pulls and pushes the stick to move the ball
(V)      ball is moved from right to left and vice versa.

Product Evaluation
The purpose is to measure ability to dribble the ball with control around obstacles starting at a marked line.

Obstacles are paced at specific distances as shown in the diagram. The numbers on the diagram are for scoring purpose.
