  1. List any three styles used by the ancient Greek architects in producing columns.
  2. State any six characteristics of Greek sculptures during the archaic period.

Observation

Few of the candidates attempted this question. The performance was poor. The candidates were expected to answer in the following way:

 

 (a)                   Styles used by the ancient Greek architects in producing columns
-           Doric order.
-           Ionic order.
-           Corinthian order.

(b)                    Characteristics of Greek sculptures during the archaic period
-           Statue in free standing posture and sitting postures.
-           Life size and some are larger than life size.
-           Use figures in relief.
-           Use of marbles, gold, ivory, wood, bronze.
-           Carving were smoothened and waxed.
-           Symmetry flatness and stiffness of form.
-           Female figures are fully clothed.
-           Carving are painted life like.
-           Male figures are usually in nude.
-           Wig like hairstyle.
