The question was rather unpopular with the candidates as majority of them avoided it. The few candidates that summoned courage to attempt it managed to stumble on very few correct points hence there was poor overall performance in the question.
Some of the points candidates failed to highlight included:
- lack of well trained and well experienced Nigerian politicians and administrators in a section of Nigeria;
- problem of ethnicity;
- failure of the ruling party to tolerate the activities of the opposition;
- colonial tie with Britain;
- inability to conduct a nationally acceptable population census, etc.
