Candidates' weakness
|
The following were perceived candidates’ weaknesses:
- poor use of English Language and spelling mistakes;
- failure to heed to instructions/rubrics;
- poor/illegible handwriting;
- lack of proper and adequate vocabulary in the subject;
- wasting of time on unnecessary preambles.
The above shortcomings could be overcome if
- the candidates are exposed to reading newspapers, magazines, books, etc. This will help them improve on their use of English.
- Qualified teachers are employed to teach the subjects in schools.
- Teachers should intensify more effort in giving take- home assignments to students. This will make them familiar with the way the questions are expected to be answered.
- the candidates spend the first few minutes of their time studying the rubrics and the demands of the questions.
- the candidates learn to write legibly.
