Observation
This was another popular question and was attempted by almost all the candidates. The performance of the candidates who answered it was good as they really understood its demands. However, some candidates did not do well by listing the points without further explanations. The candidates were expected to provide the following answers to the question.
- It provides employment opportunities to a large number of people such as editors, script writers, pressmen etc.;
- It generates revenue for the state through the payment of taxes;
- It provide feedback to government on its policies;
- It informs the people on important national issues;
- It educate the people about their rights, duties and obligation towards the state;
- It serves as an instrument for change in a society e.g. spirit of nationalism and struggle of independence;
- It serves as an instrument for protecting the fundamental human rights of the people;
- It serves as a medium through which important national issue can be raised or debated and solution provided;
- It provides a forum for making constructive criticism on government policies;
- It offers an avenue for expression of opinion by the public on both national and international issues.
