Observation

The question is on phonology and candidates were required to explain consonants with secondary articulation in (a), list all the consonants with escondary articulation in (b) and construct five words with some of the consonants with secondary articulation in (c). The following explanations and examples were expected to be presented:

            (a)     Ma’anar baƙi mai goyo:

Shi ne sauti mai siga biyu a haɗe. Sauti ne wanda furucinsa yake
                                    da mataki biyu ko mafurta biyu.

            (b)    Baƙaƙe masu goyo:

                        [kw]                [gw]
                        [ky]                 [gy]
                        [ƙw]                [fy]
                        [ƙy]                 [’y]

(c) Kalmomi masu ɗauke da baƙi mai goyo:

                        [kw]     →        kwano
                        [ky]     →        kyau

                        [ƙw]    →        ƙwaro 
                        [ƙy]     →        ƙyaure

                        [gw]    →        gwanda
                        [gy]     →        gyaɗa

                        [fy]      →        fyaɗa
                                    [’y]      →        ’ya’ya
