Very few candidates attempted this question. Many of them were unable to answer it correctly. They narrated the event in the play and failed to give detailed analysis of the importance of the check.
The following points were expected from the candidates:
• The origin of the check and the amount involved.
• The suspense and expectation the check creates in the play.
• Mama's resolve to buy a new home for the family and the rift it causes.
• The result of the judicious utilisation of the check on the family.
Candidates' performance in this question was poor.
