This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was good. In part (a)(i)
candidates correctly mentioned track events in which staggered start could be used, however,
few ofthem lost marks because they mentioned events like 1,500 and 3,000 not using staggered
start. In (a) (ii) candidates correctly listed events that involved lap scoring and in (b)(iii)
candidates listed phases involved in clearing a hurdle in athletics.
