This question was attempted by many candidates and their performance was poor. However, in
part (a) (i) majority ofthe candidates lost marks due to their inability to draw a javelin and label
correctly and in part (a)(ii) few candidates mentioned types of carriage in javelin throw in
athletics while many candidates failed to mention the types of carriage in javelin throw in
athletics. In part (b) candidates successfully listed materials needed for officiating in both
discus and shot put events in athletics. In part (c) candidates could not explain the styles of
crouch start in sprint races bullet medium and elongated.
