Question 6
(a) Explain the following terms:
(i) aerobic respiration;
(ii) anaerobic respiration. [4 marks]
(b) List four possible movements that occur at the shoulder joint. [4 marks]
(c) Mention two types of body somatotype. [2 marks]
Observation
Majority of the candidates responded to this question and their performance was average.
In part (a), few candidates explained aerobic respiration and anaerobic respiration correctly.
In part (b), majority of the candidates could not list possible movements that occur at the shoulder joint.
In part (c), majority of the candidates mentioned types of body somatotype.
The expected answers are as follows:
      Aerobic respiration
Is a type of respiration in which oxygen is used to breakdown food to produce energy, water and carbon dioxide.
       Anaerobic respiration
Is a type of respiration in which simple sugar is breakdown into energy and carbon dioxide in the absence of oxygen.

Movements possible at the shoulder joint
- Abduction
- Adduction
- Circumduction
- Flexion
- Extension
- Rotation
(c) Types of body somatotype
- Endomorphy
- Mesomorphy
- Ectomorphy
