Observation

 

(a) Oníwà ni yóò jèrè ìwà rẹ̀.
This is an explanatory essay which required the candidates to write on character; stating the different forms of character, benefits of a good character and the consequences of a bad character. They were expected to admonish the society to imbibe good character. Most candidates misunderstood this topic hence, wrote on bad character only.

(b) Ẹnìkan tí ì bá wù mí kí n jọ.
This is a descriptive essay on candidates’ role model. Most of the candidates who answered this question performed well, they spelt out reasons why they chose the role model.

(d) Ọmọ bẹẹrẹ wúlò ju ìwọ̀nba ọmọ lọ.
This is an argumentative essay. Candidates were required to write in favour or against the topic: It is better to have many children than few children in the family. Some of the candidates dogmatically wrote in favour of one side of the topic without mentioning the cons. This reduced their chances of scoring reasonable marks in this question.
(e) Ìlera.
This is an expository essay on health. Few of the candidates who attempted this question understood the topic while some of the candidates merely wrote on diseases and sicknesses thus performing poorly.

(ẹ) Kọ lẹ́tà sí àbúrò rẹ tí o ti ń gbọ́ oriṣiríṣi ẹ̀sùn ìwà búburú nípa rẹ̀, tí wọ́n sì fẹ́ lé e kúrò ní ilé-ẹkọ́. Fún un ní ìmọ̀ràn kí ó lè yí padà.
The candidates were required to write a letter to a sibling who is about to be expelled from school as a result of deviant behaviour, advising him/her to turn a new leaf.

Most candidates tackled this topic very well.
