(b)   (i)   Name the viral disease of cassava.                                                                  [ 1 mark]
       (ii)   State the mode of transmission of the disease referred to in 6(b)(i).              [ 1 mark]
      (iii)   State two methods of controlling the disease referred to in 6(b)(i)               [ 2 marks]
(c)    Mention four benefits a farmer can derive from using cowpea as an intercrop.  [4 marks]
(d)    State three signs of maturity in maize.                                                                 [3 marks]

OBSERVATION

This question was well attempted by the candidates.  In 6 a(i) and (ii), many candidates could not explain the term cultural practice as used in crop production and list cultural practices that are carried out during crop production.
However, in 6 b ( i-iii), majority of the candidates were able to name the viral disease of cassava, state the mode of transmission and methods of controlling the viral disease.  Further to this, many candidates could mention the benefits a farmer can derive from using cowpea as an intercrop and state signs of maturity in maize.
The expected answers include:
Explanation of the term cultural practice as used in crop production
Cultural practice is any agronomic/crop husbandry activity carried out after a crop is planted in the field.
