Observation

This question was well attempted by the candidates. In 1(a)(i-ii), majority of the candidates were able to name the methods used in fishing but they could not list materials that could be used to capture fish. Also, majority of the candidates were able to name the facilities that could be used to culture fish as well as give reasons why fisheries is important to the country as required in 1(b-c) but they could not describe the types of capture fisheries as required in 1(d).

The expected answers were:

1(a)(ii) Materials used to capture fish
-           Hooks

-           Nets (cast, gill, seine, drag)

  •  It is capital intensive.
  • Productivity is high.
  • It is generally carried out in the marine environment.
