Majority of the candidates answered question 3(a) correctly but could not list the steps as required by 3(b). Poor practical knowledge would have contributed to this.

- damage the phone battery
- damage the phone main board
- damage the phone charging IC
- damage the phone charging port
- shorten the life span of the phone battery
OR
Steps required in replacing bad charging IC
- disassemble the phone casing;
- desolder IC and remove it completely;
- replace IC with new one of the same capacity and minding its orientation;
- solder the legs of the IC;
- assemble the phone.
