Geography Paper 3 WASSCE (PC 1), 2019

Candidates’ Weaknesses

The weaknesses observed on the candidates’ scripts are explained below:

  1. Violation of rubrics
  2. Some candidates violated the rubrics on the question paper. Rubrics are meant to be obeyed.

  3. Scanty knowledge on some  of the attempted questions
  4. Some of the candidates had scanty knowledge on the question they attempted thus leading to sketchy answers and consequently loss of marks.

  5. Poor diagrams for illustrations
  6. The diagrams that were used to explain some of the points were poorly drawn. This made such candidates to lose precious marks.

SUGGESTED REMEDIES FOR OVERCOMING CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES

Ways of overcoming the weaknesses noted on the candidates’ scripts are:

  1.  Obedience to rubrics
All rubrics in examinations are to be obeyed if the candidate is to score high mark in the examination.
  2. Adequate knowledge of questions before attempting them
  3. It is advisable the candidates study the questions carefully and adequately understand them before attempting them.

  4. Use of good illustrative diagrams
  5. A mastery in diagrams meant for aiding explanation of points could be achieved through constant practice. Candidates are therefore advised to practise the drawing of good diagrams that they could use to explain geographical phenomena.
