    (a) What is posture? [2marks]
    (b) Mention four postural defects in humans.   [4marks]

     (c) State four characteristics of correct posture. [4marks]

Observation

 

Many candidates attempted this question and their performance was good. In part (a) they did well in it, but some could not correctly define posture they wrote posture is sitting, standing running, e.t.c.  In part (b) majority were able to mention postural defects in humans. However, some wrote wrong answer such as rickets, beri-beri, anaemia, e.t.c.  In part (c) most candidates could not state were able to state correctly characteristics of correct posture, some wrote stand upward, head upward, e.t.c.
The expected answers are as follow:

5 (a)    POSTURE
Is the position the body is held/alignment of the body,
-while standing/sitting/walking/running.

(b)       POSTURAL DEFECTS IN HUMANS

  • scoliosis
  • kyphosis
  • lordosis
  • bowleg
  • flatfoot/club foot
  • k/ knee

  (c)     CHARACTERISTICS OF CORRECT POSTURE
-           standing erect/upright
-           head balance
-           knees are straight
-           feet squarely on the ground
-           weight of body evenly distributed

-           bones and muscles are in alignment.
