Weakness and Remedies

 

 

Candidates’ weaknesses include their inability to:

  • spell correctly
  • write in simple English Language
  • identify the illustrated diagrams
  • state symptoms experienced by the victim of a fractured bone
  • state disadvantages of tap water  if there is need for construction
  • mention stages that the tap water  should undergo before use
  • name minerals found in bones
  • mention diseases that could affect bones
  • state characteristics of correct posture
  • state major source of iodine
  • describe how to test for protein in a food substance 
  • give advantage of drug education
  • explain to dependence, abuse and rehabilitation

 

The following remedies were suggested to overcome these weaknesses:

  • teachers should endeavour to use instructional materials especially when teaching aspects that have diagrams in health education
  • teachers should recommend textbooks that covered a wide range of the syllabus for students
  • students should be encouraged to cultivate habit of seriousness when in school and home
  • government should recruit more qualified health education teachers
  • also a special call to principals/school administrators health education should be assigned  to health education specialist in schools
teachers should endeavour to get previous marking schemes in teaching the students what is expected of them during examination
