This was a direct question and was fairly popular to candidates. Here, candidates were demanded to highlight the roles played by El- Kanemi in the development of Borno. Most candidates who attempted this question were able to identify his contributions as was demanded and got good marks. The following points were highlighted by them.

1.       He assisted Mai Ahmed when called upon to help repel Gwoni Muktar, the

       Fulani jihadist who had captured Ngazargamu;

2.he saved Borno from the attack of Ibrahim Zaki;

3.he became the ruler of Borno when he defeated the combined forces of Mai

           Dunama and the king of Baghirmi who plotted to kill him;

4.local courts were reformed and a court of appeal which he himself presided

       over was retained;
