Question 1


Observation

A.        Here, the candidates were expected to narrate the events that took place the day the Commissioner for Education visited their school.
            Most candidates wrote creditably on this question. However, some failed to include the name of their school, the purpose of the visit, highlights of the address by the school principal.

 

B.        Candidates were expected to write on a debate topic: ‘These days women embrace education more than men’.
Most of the candidates that attempted this question did not balance their arguments.

 

C.        This is a formal letter in which the candidates were required to write to their principal, narrating the fight that ensued between the junior secondary students and the senior counterparts.
Most students that attempted this question gave valid points.

D.        In this question, candidates were asked to write an essay which illustrates the Igbo  proverb that says: ‘Ebe ọkụ nyụrụ a wụsa ọwa’, which means ‘one stops working when one gets tired’.


The candidates that attempted this question could not explain the proverb but were able to illustrate it with a matching story.

E.        This question required that candidates write a dialogue on the discussion between a patient and a medical doctor.
            Great efforts were made by those that attempted the question.
