Literature-In-English Paper 3 WASSCE (PC), 2016

Question 4

FRANK OGODO OGBECHE: Harvest of Corruption

Compare the characters of Ochuole and Aloho in the play.

Observation

This was a popular question, although, candidates concentrated more on the characters of Ochuole and Aloho, rather than comparing the characters.

The following points were expected from the candidates:

  • Ochuole and Aloho are university graduates.
  • Their lifestyles affect their attitudes to things; ochuole is “wordly” while Aloho is “born-again.”9
  • The Chief employs both of them in the same ministry.
  • Ochuole is sophisticated and manipulative while Aloho is naive and trusting.
  • Both Ochuole and Aloho receive their due punishment.
Candidates’ performance in this question was fair.
