(d)       State three principles of spotting in gymnastics.                                            [3 marks]

Observation


This question was attempted by many candidates and the candidates’ performance was impressive.  In part (b)(ii) candidates could not state faults that could be committed when performing backward roll in gymnastics.

The expected answers were as follows
    (ii)   Faults that can be committed when performing backward roll in gymnastics

  • if squatting is not properly done
  • palms not facing up
  • knees/tights not close to the chest
  • not rolling on back
  • chin not on chest
  • not extending arms vigorously
  • not bringing the feet to the mats to stand straight.
