Question 4

(a) Kọ̀ṣẹémàní ni ọ̀rọ̀ ìṣe jẹ́ nínú gbólóhùn. Dá sí ọ̀rọ̀ yìí.


(b) Dárúkọ irúfẹ́ ọ̀rọ̀-ìṣẹ tí a fàlà sí nídìí nínú ọ̀kọ̀ọ̀kan àwọn gbólóhùn wọ̀nyí :
i. Olú mú Òjó bínú.
ii. Kọ́bọ̀ ni ó ku Adé kù.
iii. Àwọn ọmọ náà dà?.
iv. Abímbọ́lá ga gan-an.
v. Ṣé ẹ ti parí iṣẹ́ náà?.
vi. Ó wù mi kí n tètè dé.
vii. Ẹ jọ̀wọ́ ẹ má pẹ̀ẹ́ o.
vii. Aṣọ Kọ́lá ti fàya.

 

Observation

Candidates were required to discuss the importance of verbs in sentences in (a) and to identify the verbs that were underlined in the sentences in (b) .

Some of the expected responses were:
(a) Ọ̀rọ-ìṣe ni ó máa ń dúró gẹ́gẹ́ bi kókó fọ́nrán nínú àpólà-ìṣe/ ó máa ń
sọ ìṣẹ̀lẹ̀ inú gbólóhùn/ Gbólóhùn kò lè kún láìsí ọ̀rọ̀-ìṣe.

Most Candidates missed the correct definition and importance of verbs in sentences while others did not know the specific type of verbs in the sentences. This showed lack of a proper exposure to the recommended Language texts.
