Study the drawn trousers carefully and answer the questions below.
- (i) Identify the parts labelled I, II, III, IV, and V.
(ii) Suggest a suitable neatening for the lower edge of the pair of trouser.
- Explain how to measure the part labelled V.
- Suggest a decorative way of mending a hole at the front knee of the pair of trousers.
- State a suitable opening with a corresponding fastening for the front of the pair of trousers.
- State ways of neatening the waistline of a skirt.
OBSERVATION:
Question 2a (i), (ii), b, and e are one of the candidates’ strength because they performed very well and scored high marks. Many candidates could identify the parts of a pair of trousers correctly. Candidates were able to correctly suggest the suitable neatening for the lower edge of the pair of trouser and scored high marks. Many candidates could explain how to measure the part labelled V (inside leg).
In questions 2c, some candidates did not respond correctly to decorative way of mending a hole at the front knee of a pair of trouser, some responded to it as a “crazy jeans”. The expected answers are using appliqué, patch work, shadow work. Candidates could not correctly state suitable opening with a corresponding fastening for the front of the pair of trousers in question 2d, some wrote zippers but did not write the opening. The expected answers are:
