Candidates' Weakness
Candidates’ major weaknesses include
- Poor command of English language;
- Lack of mastery of the topics covered in the paper;
- They seem to have little knowledge of the technicality of the subject;
- Spelling errors;
- Misinterpretation ofsome question e.g. cooker instead of cook,
- They were unable to explain the following cooing terms: grease, marinade, grate, reconstitute and garnish;
- They could not state guidelines for feeding a toddler;
- They were unable to name the cut of fish labelled I- IV;
- They were unable to mention flour and drink that can be made from ginger;
- They were unable to list fermented flavourings and citrus flavourings.
In order to overcome these weaknesses:
Teachers should- Endeavour to research and study before going to class;
- Ensure a comprehensive teaching of the topics in the syllabus;
- Pay diligent attention to the practical aspect of the subject;
- Expose candidates to projects that will teach detailed rudiments of the subject.;
- Prepare candidates on the appropriate techniques of answering questions.
Candidates Should strive to have in depth knowledge of the subject;
- Should take advantage of technology for productive research on the subject matter;
- Should study hard and prepare for examinations;
- Should work on their command of English Language.
