(b) The question is on dialogue and candidates were required to dicuss the importance of curtailing the spread of rumours. The following points should be relevant:

(c) The question above is an argumentative essay, it sought the opinion of candidates as to whether or not living in a boarding school has an impact on the life of the students. In attempting the question, candidates were expected to take a position and advance convincing reasons for that.

(i) It has an impact on the  students’ life:

        Kammalawa:

         Taƙaitaccen bayani da jaddadawa bisa ra’ayin da aka ɗauka.

(d) This is an informal letter. Candidates were required to write a letter to a friend who is a student advising him to shun bad behaviour. The following features are mandatory:

-  Address of the writer;
-  The date;
-  Salutation;
-  Content;
-  Conclusion.

Candidates were expected to reflect the following points in the letter:

                Sallamar buɗewa;

              Sunan marubuci.

   ii   Gundarin wasiƙa:

Guje wa cin-zalin ƙananan ɗalibai;
Guje wa ɗaukar kayan makaranta da na abokan karatu ba tare da izini ba;
Guje wa shaye-shaye ko mu’amala da masu yi;
Guje wa maguɗin jarabawa;
Rashin zama a aji;
Rashin ladabi da biyayya ga malamai;
Rashin zama a makaranta.
Nisanta daga miyagun ɗabi’u da shiga ƙungiyoyi kamar na:

                        Asiri;
                        Maɗigo;
                        Luwaɗi;
                        Ta’addanci, da sauransu.

Few candidates attempted the question and their performance was commendable.

 

(e) The statement above is a proverb which says that a dwarf dog cannot climb into a mortar. Candidates were required to give its meaning, identify other similar proverbs and narrate a story that will reflect the meaning of the proverb. The following is the meaning and examples of similar proverbs:
                                                    
(i) Ma’anar karin magana:

Karin maganar nuni yake yi da cewa kada mutum ya ɗauka cewa duk abin da ya ga wani ya yi, ya ce shi ma zai yi ko zai iya yi. Kada mutum ya yi abin da ya fi ƙarfinsa a dukkan al’amuran rayuwa.

(ii) Karin magana masu ma’ana kwatankwacin wannan:

Bakin rijiya ba wurin wasan makaho ba ne.
Dajin wani karkarar wani.
Inda wani ya yi rawa aka ba shi kuɗi, idan wani ya yi kashi zai sha.
Ruwa ba tsaran kwando ba ne.
Kifin rijiya ba ya gasa da na gulbi.
Abincin wani gubar wani.

(iii)      Kawo labarin da zai dace da ma’anar karin maganar.
