Observation

The question is on phonology, it required the candidates to explain vowel lengthening in (a), explain the context of vowel lengthening in (b) and give three examples from each context in a sentence in (c). The following explanations and examples were expected to be captured by the candidates:

(a) Tsawaita wasali:

Tsawaita wasali shi ne jan wasali gajere ya koma dogo wajen lafazi.
(b)  Muhallin da ake tsawaita wasali:

            (i)         Muhallin tambaya
            (ii)        Muhallin mallaka

(c) Misali:

Muhallin tambaya:

Wa ya shigoo?
Ina ta tafii?
Usman ya firgitaa?
Abdu ya guduu?
Za su yardaa?
Yaushe kuka zoo?
Ina mutum na farkoo?

Muhallin  mallaka:

Baabaanaa ya zo.
Gidaanaa ya fi kyau.
Mataataa tana girki.
Shagunanaa sun fi naka kaya masu kyau.
Akuyaataa baƙa ce.
Littafiinaa ya cika.
Motataa ta fi kyau.

               Few candidates attempted the question and their performance was fair.
