Most  candidates were able to: 
                    -           state the differences between wood  single and clay tile. 
                      -           state advantages of wood single over  clay tile when used as roof covering material.  
                    However,  majority of the candidates were unable to: 
                    -           label the parts of a straight flight  correctly. 
                    -           state stages involved in preparing  the surface of a sandcrete blockwall to received a render. 
                    The expected  response to question 2 is as given below: 
                    2 (a)    Difference between wood single and clay tile  
                    
                      
                        - wood  single is a thin slab of wood;
 
                        - clay  tile is a burnt sheet of clay material.

                                (1)       it  is tougher and more durable; 
              (2)       lighter  in weight.

                        - The wall surface should be well keyed;
 
                        - Should be cleaned of all loose dirt;
 
                        - The wall surfaces should be damped to  avoid suction;
 
                        - The render  should not be of a rich cement and sand mix (to avoid shrinkage and cracking);
