The  following shortcomings were observed from some candidates responses:
                        
                          
                            - Inability of the candidates to  differentiate between tools and equipments;
 
                            - Inability to label the parts of a  straight flight timber staircase correctly;
 
                            - Production of poor sketches.
 
                          
                         
                        To overcome these weaknesses,  candidates should be:
                        
                          
                          
                              - 
                                
made to understand that tools differ  from equipment;
                               
                              - 
                                
given questions involving sketching  and labelling of building components;
                               
                              - 
                                
exposed to practicals involving the  use of basic hand tools.
