This question was also very popular and those who attempted it performed well. However, some deviated and answered types of pressure group instead of the merits. To get it properly answered, the candidates were expected to provide the following answers:

(i)  Serve as check against dictatorship.
(ii) Help to prevent bribery and corruption through their activities.
(iii) Provide useful information in the process of law making.
(iv) Assist in policy formation and implementation.
(v)  Provide educational programmes – seminar, lectures, debates, e.t.c.
