This was a very popular question. Many candidates wrote creditably well and earned good marks in the (a) part. They were able to trace from Bayajida's flight from Baghadad to his marrying of Daura's queen, begetting a son Bawo and Bawo's getting of seven legitimate and seven illegitimate sons who formed the Hausa states.
However, in (b), some of them could not describe the economic activities of the Hausa states. They were supposed to identify the following:
(i) craft industries e.g. cloth weaving and dyeing, leather, iron;
(ii) fishing;
(iii) trading;
(iv) hunting; etc.
