(ii)  announcement of new Head of State - General Aguiyi Ironsi;
(iii) appointment of regional military governors;
(iv)  suspension of the constitution and political activities;
(v) declaration of unitary government;
(vi) mass killing of the Igbo army officers and civilians in the North;
(vii) counter-coup of July, 1966, and appointment of a new military leader Yakubu Gowon;
(viii) crisis of leadership between Gowon and Ojukwu and attempts to settle the crisis - Aburi meeting;
(ix)  declaration of the state of Biafra;
(x) outbreak of civil war.
